We believe that celebrating and playing together are important in teambuilding. We make sure we mark key stages in our development together.  Here's what we get up to when we're not studying!

Personal Development

Graduation: Our annual graduation ceremony in attended by proud parents,  partners and community members.  If you’re here on Graduation Day, you’re welcome to join us!

Sports: In Zanzibar everyone loves football and we have teams of various ages that play against other schools and organisations.  We also encourage boys and girls to learn water safety and swimming skills.

Outings: Our students don’t have the resources or time to learn more about their island.  We arrange regular outings to local places of interest.  Some highlights have been a visit to Chumbe Island, a marine conservation area close to Zanzibar.

Talent shows: Our culture doesn’t usually encourage young people to perform with confidence. But our regular shows are incredibly popular and young people discover hidden talents.

Debates: Several times a month we have debate competitions, either internally or against other schools.

Role play: We use role play to build confidence when using English. Our favourite scenarios are working in a restaurant, dealing with poor service and working as part of a team.

Community involvement

International Volunteer Day: We celebrate this day with the rest of the world on 5 December.  Sometimes our partners come to join us with our work or we go out to help others.

Interact: We love the values of the Rotary Foundation and so have set up an Interact club for teenagers at ZL4LF.
